Pin: useful for embroidering on a photo or paper
A punch is handy if you want to embroider on paper or a photo. It works best to first punch the holes in the paper you'll be embroidering through. This fine awl from Tulip is perfect for that! The point is very fine and sharp , and the handle provides a good grip. Place something soft, like a felt mat, under your paper and plan where you want the holes. You can make a template and place it over your paper or photo, and punch through it. Then embroider through the holes as usual. Use a cross-stitch needle and DMC floss in your favorite colors. The awl is also a handy tool for tying knots in thread and untangling it . It can also be used when working with beads and jewelry . With the awl, you can enlarge bead holes and remove imperfections.
Properties of the Tulip awl
- Fine awl with sharp point
- Plastic handle that is comfortable to hold
- Multifunctional: can be used as a piercing tool, when making jewelry and/or to take apart buttons.
Tip: This holographic yarn from Kreinik is very nice to use when embroidering on photos and paper.
